What to Expect at Our Private Middle School in Florida
Upon enrollment, students complete MindPrint Learning and Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments to determine a student’s starting point, strengths, and support needs. That information helps each student and their Academic Coach create a Personalized Learning Plan that guides course selection and supports Upper School preparation.
At our accredited middle school in Florida, Academic Coaches serve as mentors who help students stay on track, revisit their Personalized Learning Plans as their needs change, and build greater independence. For individual courses, instructors give students personalized feedback, grade their work, and provide targeted support when a concept needs more review. Learning may take place through independent study, sessions with instructors, and collaborative work in small groups.
As a hybrid middle school, PBIA SES allows students to combine on-campus and at-home learning with course options that may include advanced classes and career exploration. Students who demonstrate academic readiness may also have access to high-school-level courses. An Academic Coach helps match options to each student’s goals and circumstances. Throughout the school year, parents stay in the loop through direct communication from our team and access to the school’s Learning Management System.

Setting Expectations for Middle School
Students begin developing future-ready skills during Middle School. Our Academic Coaches serve as mentors to our middle school students, helping them build a sense of ownership and independence over their education as well as a lifelong love of learning. Our teachers provide grading and personalized feedback that celebrates accomplishments while encouraging students to keep excelling as they continue along their education path.
Each student’s Personalized Learning Plan is tailored to their specific academic strengths and opportunities, interests, and future goals. Students in grades 6 to 8 collaborate with their Academic Coach to develop their own Personalized Learning Plan that focuses on choosing the right courses for their Upper School goals, examines how to further develop their interests, and builds self-confidence and independence in their studies.
Our course catalog of more than 300 courses gives students the ability to enroll in an advanced course such as a high school-level math or science course.

Students enroll in courses based on academic ability–not age or grade level–allowing our middle schoolers to take Upper School courses if they demonstrate academic readiness and interest.
