Course Overview:
In the Arabic 2 online course, students will become more familiar with understanding general and detailed information; communicate in standard speech on a range of everyday issues; read about a limited number of everyday topics; write simple texts using descriptive language accurately; comprehend simple information when presented with pictures, signs, and objects; and comprehend and write simple information about themselves, their family and friends, and their favorite places and hobbies.
The main grammar focus of the course will be understanding how the root system works; how to form the different types of plural and dual forms and negation articles; learning how to extract the root of a word and some common time and place adverbs, adjectives, verbs and verb conjugations; and recognizing the singular and plural of nouns and verbs. The central themes of the course are family, friends, and childhood.
The student learning outcomes of this level are to be able to express feelings and attitudes; describe their house and their preferences; talk about work, food and cooking; speak Arabic at the supermarket and restaurant; name clothes, colors, weather and seasons; and identify some cultural information and Arab holidays such as Ramadan and Eid.
