Middle School at Palm Beach International Academy
At Palm Beach International Academy, our Middle School students work with a team of educators to become more independent, demonstrate strong self-advocacy skills, and prepare for Upper School and beyond.
Getting Middle Schoolers to the Next Level
During the Middle School years at Palm Beach International Academy, we invite our students to explore their personal passions, create their own worldviews, and begin to envision their futures. Our Academic Coaches partner with each student to create their own Personalized Learning Plan and provide them with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive when they reach the next level of school.
Building Student Independence
The Middle School years are a critical time in laying the foundation for a student’s future. During this time, it is important to foster interests and cultivate skills that will prepare them for what lies ahead. Our educators at Palm Beach International Academy work with Middle Schoolers to build the self-confidence to be independent, self-guided learners.
Setting Expectations for Middle School
Students begin developing future-ready skills during Middle School. Our Academic Coaches serve as mentors to our middle school students, helping them build a sense of ownership and independence over their education as well as a lifelong love of learning. Our teachers provide grading and personalized feedback that celebrates accomplishments while encouraging students to keep excelling as they continue along their education path.
Each student’s Personalized Learning Plan is tailored to their specific academic strengths and opportunities, interests, and future goals. Students in grades 6 to 8 collaborate with their Academic Coach to develop their own Personalized Learning Plan that focuses on choosing the right courses for their Upper School goals, examines how to further develop their interests, and builds self-confidence and independence in their studies.
Our course catalog of more than 300 courses gives students the ability to enroll in an advanced course such as a high school-level math or science course.
Courses That Fit Each Student’s Academic Path
Our middle school students can select from an expansive course catalog that includes fun and interesting elective and core course options. Students enroll in courses based on academic ability–not age or grade level–allowing our middle schoolers to take Upper School courses if they demonstrate academic readiness and interest.
